A blast from the past

Recently, I was reminiscing about the time when Twitter/X didn’t exist, TikTok was just a sound made by the clock, and blogging was all the rage. That reminded me of some of the blog posts I had written in the early 2010s, and I remembered that I had a dump of my old website, before I had retired all of it. I realized as cheesy as the posts were, it would be a good trip down memory lane for some laughs. So I dug up my archive and realized the backups were completely fried. But long story short, I was able to recover most of the content and this site is just an archive of those old posts. If you are still reading, enjoy!

The Cupertino Job(s)

10th Standard. That was when I got my first computer. A PC actually. But the thing was, I didn’t know there were any other “types” of computer then.

Back then Windows was the only OS I had heard of. I’m sure people thought that if somebody, somewhere in the entire world, had a computer it obviously had Windows in it. I mean, come on. What else could there be in a computer if not Windows !

Naturally, by the time I planned to join engineering, I knew there was this “difficult”, “rare” OS called Linux. I swear I hadn’t even heard of something called Mac.ย  And for me, at that point in time, Apple was just a fruit.

On the contrary, today, my connection with my friends and relatives which normally is through a phone; my music time, which involves listening to songs on a mp3 player; my computer which is used to browse the internet, watch movies, play games etc; is by a single brand.ย  Apple.
Funny, how just one company can have such a big influence on you and how it gets embedded itself into your pretty little life.
If you think about it, its quite shocking how one single company can control your life so much. But the flip side about it is that, it makes you actually enjoy the time spent on doing what you’re doing.
I have owned a PC, 3 Nokia phones, 1 Samsung phone, 2 Mp3 players before but I was not attached to even one of them as much as I am attached to Apple products right now. That is the basic difference between the products of Apple and rest of the other guys.
If a product has the features, outlook, that not only impresses the user but which makes the user fond of it and gets attached to it, you’ve found yourself success and a loyal follower.
This was a mantra, formulated by one of the greatest pioneers, the world has ever seen.

Steve Jobs!

Many regard him as an arrogant, self obsessed, nasty, unfriendly dictator the IT industry has ever seen.

Be as it may, his career, his success and his achievements speak for itself. Turning around a company, which kicked him out earlier for mismanagement, which was almost bankrupt, and bringing it to the position it has gained today, eclipsing Exxon Mobil for a brief period to become the World’s No 1 most valuable company,(currently No 2) is no joke at all.
And all of this, in spite of suffering from cancer and undergoing a liver transplant.
Its the dedication, the determination and the courage of this man that has to be admired.

Today is the day Steve Jobs resigned from his CEO post at Apple.
No doubt that the success of Apple is because of all the thousands of employees working hard at Apple, but the success/failure of a company is always attributed to its CEO.

Its quite a sad day, today for all the Apple fans that this visionary has stepped down from the throne of the IT industry.
Yet, wishing him a good luck, health and happiness and wishing that Apple still retains the golden crown of the industry in the future, after the era of Steve Jobs !

TGIF

Frustration is a weird feeling.. Its one of those feelings which is pretty much like nature’s call. It has to be let out. The best(or worse) part about it is that it doesnt matter where(or on whom) its let out, unlike the latter.

The reason for Frustration in the first place is also mysterious as it is possible because of millions of mundane things, which if its simple could actually be avoided. Turns out its not as simple as it seems and thats the reason why mllions of people are frustrated as frequently as it shouldnt be.
The consequence of Frustration is not that enigmatic. On the contrary, its an easy deduction, as it usually turns out later to be something regrettable.
Yes it can be a number of different things you do when you’re frustrated but nevertheless, they’re all usually regrettable.
And sometimes it might so happen that you end up writing a lame ass post about it, which I can assure you was really not that you intended to do in the first place.

An idle mind is a Devil’s workshop they say. Might be true.. Cuz you start to get all this Satanic thoughts in your mind when you are in Frustration.. Most of it involves a baseball bat, a poor(just an expression) guy(probably fat wearing formal clothes and spectacles) and a grin on your face.. It could also involve a lonely top of a mountain and a lot of screams which you wont hear as its your mouth from where they’re originating anyway.

Apparently there are instances where Frustration made one guy(supernerd to be precise) do stupid things(bitch about gals, steal intellectual property, hack, privacy breach, screw over friends etc etc), which made him the world’s youngest billionaire, when noone had even heard of his name 4 years ago.
But inspite of that he did regret what he had done in Frustration at later point of time in life(or so he said).
Well is’nt he just one of those lucky fellows who hit a jackpot with the consequences of his actions in Frustration.
Not everyone are as lucky as him now,are they!

P.S — TGIF = True God. Idle Friday.

Epilogue (NSN)

It just seems like a month ago when I was sitting in The Park..No its not ‘A’ park, its the restaurant in MG road where I had my orientation program for Nokia Siemens Networks.
After that its been 2 yrs of fun filled work full of AGILE, Java, Scrum,
Coffee-Breaks-on-the-steps, the-roadside-12Rs-veg-sandwich,
the-2Rs-groundnuts-as-incentives as well..
Not that we just did that @ NSN. It was a fairly challenging work on “Optimizer”. It even involved a demo project of Scrabble along with my buddy Jayesh(who’s quite a JAVA Guru BTW). It was quite a bit of fun.
Sometimes you just dono what interests you and what will work out for you. Coming from a totally different background of Electrical engineering, Telecom + Software domain made me realize that I was indeed interested in this.
There were quite a few of peers around who helped me learn new things, adapt and enjoy my work as well.
However now its time for me to say a tata for NSN and I will defintely miss the group the PJ’s, the insanely hysteric laughter, the wiki excerpts when u least expect, the SMD,SKD phrases, the “cheap” coffee breaks which made work here something which you could actually like.
Well like they say the importance of good cannot be known if there’s no bad!!
So amongst the crappy politics, ugly, and unfair instances and opportunities there are few things and people, that do stand out shining and like always they are the good things..
To all you guys:
Jayesh (A.K.A Java, The Pleaser),
Karthik (A.K.A Beautiful Eyelashes.. I’m soo gonna be dead for this),
Rajat( A.K.A The Wikipedia),
Malli (A.K.A Chuppa Rustum),
Amjad (A.K.A Hmmm Censored cuz its Cheap),
Smita (A.K.A Hmmm Censored Again cuz its Cheap) ๐Ÿ˜‰
Poonam (A.K.A Drumpy),
and last but not the least(but little)
Nandini (A.K.A Handi, Nandeeesha) ๐Ÿ˜‰
who made each day in office something that’l be missed terribly and something that can be wished for in the future!!
Will miss you all guys!! Take care and Do keep in touch !!

– Warm Regards,
Tejas(A.K.A Loooooo) ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S – Special thanks to Reshma (A.K.A Terrorist) as well ๐Ÿ™‚ Will miss the sandwich outing, lunch outing, Coffee day treats and You as well..

An ode to the asses

I’m currently travelling 22 kms one way which makes it approximately a 50 kms each day to the office. However i am grateful that my office is not in the same route as the most of the other offices which would take around 3 hrs to travel the same distance. Everyday when i travel i see hundreds of cars, of almost all types,Ford, Maruthi, BMW etc; zooming past me at a speed which would put quite many of the lousy slow drivers to shame. HOwever there is one similarity between all the drivers irrespective of whether they are slow or fast; whether they are driving a BMW or some old junk metal with 4 wheels or the infamous three wheeler(autos).
EVERYBODY HONK!! Honk like crazy!!
And they do that as if its one of their squeezes.
You are standin in a traffic signal waiting for it to turn green and the moment the signal is green they honk..Hello ppl..Its not as if anyone would actually WANT to be stuck over there..Come on for god’s sake..Stop the damn noise..
I’m sure most of the ppl wouldve face the same situation daily. And today morning it was the same routine where ppl were honking..but today it turned out that on the recieving end was a person who was driving the car with a big ‘L’ board on it(lets call him L-guy) and it was one of his driving classes from a driving school.
The honking continued for about 15 seconds continously and finally the L-guy rounded up his wits and was able to pull away his car from the path of the honk guy.
Naturally its frustrating that this foolish honk guy dint even realize that the L-guy was a person who was learning the car and instead of having a tiny bit of patience started intimidating him by honking.
But if you are a pessimist and most importantly not at the recieving end of the honk(as i was right then), there is another side to it which you could appreciate.
Its because of asses like these honk guys out there that ppl learn driving much better than they would without these guys. Kinda like a blessing in disguise !!
If everything were perfect then driving would also just be suited to “perfect” conditions only.
Many guys who are used to driving in the US when they come down to India opt out from driving. And the reason is that they’re not used to such haphazard traffic.
However if an Indian who knows to drive well here will pretty much be able to drive seamlessly anywhere else.
So maybe we should thank these asses because of whom we learn to drive well then intended.
Thanks to all the asses out there..Keep honking !! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Revisting

Its been such a long time since I visited my own blog page..Feels like aeons have passed since I wrote my first post thinkin it would be cool to have a blog ๐Ÿ™‚ Later realized I dont have the patience to keep updating it as most of them do and thats why Twitter was invented for ppl like us who wants to share stuff fastly and without too much emphasis on grammar or trying to wonder who would give a damn about what someone has to say.. Most of the blogs are unread anyways ๐Ÿ˜‰ No offense to the ppl whose blogs are wildly popular.. Cheers guys..That apart, I was wondering what all I was writing about.. There are a lot of things which ppl write about..their experiences with things, movies, other ppl, trips anything which can vary from the most abstract of things to the most mundane.
Somehow after a time the stuff which u have written u’d read them back and wonder either what a fool, or what an idealist or what a dreamer you were.. Happy endings could be temporary or Sad beginnings can turn out to be extremely brilliant in the end ๐Ÿ™‚
So thats when I decided and took off a few posts thinking maybe things change and so does posts as well..But then I realized its not that way. Maybe the things which you did, the person u were, the ppl u met, the trips u went, or the movies u watched, everything did indeed had a purpose and it shaped you to be the person who you are today.
Wel thats what I think atleast ๐Ÿ™‚ So i thought its time to put back all posts however big or boring they were cuz everything did indeed influence me in one or the other way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anticipations vs Predictions

“Abey yeh dekh..mera dost bola ki yahan pe ek aadmi hai jo horoscopes bolta hai..woh bhi patte dekh ke..jo sach mein hota hai”..This was wat my fren told me in the office the other day..The conversation was overheard by a few colleagues and we started to have a discussion about it..Apparently one my fren’s fren had been to this “aadmi” and what he said turned out to be quite real about the past years of the former’s life..
So there were quite some speculations about this “aadmi” which went on for a few mins in the office..Ofcourse it was during a small tea break but nevertheless was an interesting discussion..
I was standing amidst the discussion going on which pretty much enveloped the whole atmosphere around and there was an unusual excitement in the air..
I’m not a steadfast believer in all these predictions and tarot reading and stuff..But that particular day i found myself wondering about a simple fact.
Is it that i really don’t believe in all these things OR am i too scared to know the truth about my future(as they call it)..Then after a few mins of pondering amidst all the ruckus i concluded that it was the latter..I was indeed scared to know it..It might not be true and might just be bullshit OR it could be true and that was what was going to happen..
But considering the second possibility the feeling of already knowing what was going to happen is more scarier than the the thing happening itself..
There are many ways to know the future..Palm reading..Tarot reading..Tea leaves..and last but not the least dreams..
I’m currently reading this graphic novel called “The Sandman” which im beginning to like..Dreams are but a realm through which every human has to pass..That concept is good but however knowing the fact that dreams could play a role in our life is scary..
Well all this is again purely belief..You can either choose to believe the predictions or not..but sometimes you do get in a place where you have a dilemma either to believe all these things and predictions or just chuck it all and move on..Considering the fact that it is scary (atleast to me) to believe in all these i would rather leave it an enigma than to be known of what is going to happen in the future..Because the confidence of every human lies in the fact that they can make their own future and they’re in the control of their own life..So if given a choice i would rather face the future with pure anticipation and excitement rather than being scared..Maybe luck does play a hand in all our lives..So lets leave it to that to do its job..Every dark cloud has a silver lining and every white cloud has a dark shade in it..

Undue “credit”

I was sitting and pondering over the last couple of days in this month.Had an awesome time but apparently my credit card got the heat of it cuz i used it quite generously.
Nevertheless when i was thinking about it, i was actually anticipating how many digits would the bill amount be, a funny possibility stuck me.
In this age of E-WORLD, where contacts and conversations happen thru E-mails..Match Making happens thru E-matrimony..Bills are received thru E-bills etc etc..Similarly payment is also made thru credit card..people are becoming too reckless about carrying cash..Carrying a credit card seems safer than carrying quite a load of money when u decide to do some expensive shopping.
To get closer to the point, everybody who is working, would know that one of the most irritating calls you get is from these private banks asking if we would like a credit card. And the best(or worst) part is the fact that these ppl are not bothered in the list about the number of credit cards we have.Just one card is enough for them to gain sufficient trust and offer us one of their own.
Well even though most of the payments could and are made by credit cards there’s been one type of payment that cannot be done with a credit card.
Its the payment of a bill of ANOTHER credit card.
If that was possible there probably would’ve been a even worse recession that would’ve been going on. Cuz its more of this “virtual money” which gets locked.
To explain it in better words, lets consider there are 4 banks.Bank 1-Bank 4.And a person say Mr X has credit card of all the 4..
He uses Bank-1 to shop..Later he uses Bank-2 to pay the bill of Bank-1..The next month depending on the credit balance he can use Bank-1 to pay Bank-2..This is a permutation of 2.Put in Bank-3 and Bank-4 in the equation and it can basically be use to lock down quite an amount of cash which is of course virtual and would probably lead to worse recession.
The cyclic complexity would increase depending on the number of credit cards you can get and none of them would be blacklisted and you would be a regular customer for all of em which in turn increases your relationship with the bank.
Guess things W.R.T recession would probably have been worse than it already is, if credit cards indeed takes over every possible mode of payment..

P.S — Kinda feels out of touch.Writing a post after a long time..

A vague sense of Hypocrisy

Well i’m gettin back to my blog after a long time..I too had those “Ah-nothin-in-my-mind-to-post-on-a-blog” times..A break!!
I thought today would be a better day to restart posting..
I took an off from work cuz..um..no particular reason as such..Just needed some time off..
So i thought i’d do somethin useful today..Talked to one of my frenz and gotta know that there was an orientation program regarding social service in this association called “Youth For Seva”..
The name of the organization seemed pretty familiar cuz i had read about it sometime when i was surfing the web a couple of days ago..SO i thought to give it a shot and i attended it..
Turned out to be a disappointment actually..Major reason was the fact that the orientation was for ppl who were ready to volunteer full-time..Sadly i cant..

So it was pretty much of an info session for me today..However i did take off during the first break..But when i was sitting thru the first session a couple of things hit my mind actually..The person who was orienting us was talkin about a thing where a lot of ppl actually do social service just for recognition..
But a very contradicting thing i felt was the simple fact that whenever anybody goes to an organization to join social service,be it full time or part time, the first thing they do is to orient them to the organization rather than social service..
A simple opinion is that social service is not something u teach in class or by telling ur experiences but is something u have to learn on the go..Quite similar to the “On the job” training given by corporate companies,it would be better to actually learn about social service WHILE doing it instead of sitting in a room and listening to experiences or DISCUSSING it..

Ppl who are novices in Social service, all they can do is analyze the situation by looking at it but not experiencing it..And for ppl like me who lack patience in such things, tend to lose interest cuz there are a lot of formalities of knowing the organization instead of actually helping somebody..
There are a very few places where formalities should be avoided and this should definitely be one of those.

A very hypocritical thing about few of such organizations are that they are more interested in explaining about the organization rather than making the volunteers do social service..
They do not want people to do social service just because they want recognition, but they want their organization to be recognized..Isnt this hypocritical??

A better thing to do by such organizations would be to actually take the novice volunteers directly to the place where they can indeed do some social service instead of trying to explain it to em..Once they actually have an on hand experience about it at least for a couple of times, then it would make sense to discuss about it and take some actions..
One more advantage of this is that if the volunteer is satisfied about the kind of work the organization does, he automatically develops interest in knowing more about the organization..It need not be forced to him..If he doesnt feel they’re doin a good job he would quit and join some other place where he finds solace..
Is this something to be thought of or just my misconception!!

P.S – Youth for Seva do seem to be a promising organization..However no solid opinion from me as of now..Ppl can join it either full time or part time..FYI visit www.youthforseva.org

A “REAL” sixer : Delhi 6

Ok..seriously what kinda movies do ppl like these days!!
There was a loser who rated 5 stars for DevD?? And quite surprisingly it was a critic for TOI..I mean have they become so perverted!! Come on!! If ur so desperate watch something “else” losers..
And apparently these are the same ppl who ALSO said Delhi6 was the worst movie ever..
Well they probably were too dumb to get the movie..
When i heard the reviews from ppl i know i was really surprised about the fact that ROMP would come up with a “WORST” movie.
BUt nevertheless i believed ppl this time..I lost the interest to go to the theatre to watch it and maybe now i’m wishing i had been to the movies.
Its a movie with unmatched class in the genre of subtlety..Its not that gr8 an entertainer either but if ur really for some “ok-this-seems-to-be-boring-but-infact-has-a-grip” kinda movie u have to watch Delhi6..
The director has taken the element of subtlety to a whole new level..The serious and disturbing part of Indian society are shown in a very light and humorous way yet it does have its intended effect..And the serious part of the movie is taken seriously only in the 2nd half..
I read the graphic novel “watchmen” two days ago and i found a striking similarity to the ending of Delhi6 too..
Four words: “For the Greater Good”
The movie has AB Jr in a pretty simple role..And his role should be a stereotype of the new generation cool dudes..Quite sadly it isnt..
Questioning things but actually trying to find the answer,is what is required instead of blaming and criticising ppl for their old ways, old practices..
The movie is an eye opener for ppl who think India as being a sad country(IF they want their eyes to be opened)..The reason they give when asked why they moved out of India is not cuz they hate the things here, but its cuz they are probably scared to do anything about it.
Its a sad thing that, in India when once upon a time Hindus and Muslims indeed coexisted in harmony as neighbours, sharing and celebrating each other’s festivals has now turned into blood battles and feuds for the most trivial reasons..
The main underlying thought of the movie which’s what ROMP probably wanted to present is that:
“No matter how hard we try to prove amongst ourselves that we are the stronger ones, there will be atleast a few forces or entities that will scare the hell out of us and eventually make us team up with each other for the greater good..Call it Ram..or Allah..or Destiny..Its all the same..”

And the world probably needs such a thing to happen to put an end to all the “RED” shades in the country..

P.S- 4/5 Stars..Rakeysh OM Prakash Mehra has “Actually” done it again..DO watch it if u haven’t..But with NO expectations.

Twittering Away

Twitter is the hot topic on the internet these days.I gotta know about this tiny lil brat application a couple of days ago when i was talkin 2 my cousin..And when i heard it for the first time, i was like WTF..what a waste of time..turns out that i am “Spending” quite some time trying to dig up stuff about it from the past few days..
As they say in the site: Its a service to stay connected with friends and family members with an answer to a simple question. “What are you doing?”
Well it really sounds like a bummer when u hear it for the first time, and the same thing happened to me..But actually i’m enjoying it quite a lot now.
I found hundreds of ppl trying to make new Apps trying to integrate it with many social networking websites like Orkut and Facebook, and there are quite a few of em out there. You can now update ur Facebook status using twitter..And it’d be gr8 if these guys come up with an interface 2 link it to Gmail n Orkut status as well..That would be Omega cool..
But here is the best part..I came across this ultimate programmer guy whoz made a jar file out of this called TWIM and it ROCKS!!
In India the WiFi usage thru mobile and 3G networks haven’t gained much popularity..YET..So this app is the one you want to be looking for..It uses GPRS and updates ur Twitter status..Which in turns updates ur Facebook status..
So the next time ur out to a cool restaurant hogging yummy food..or watching a terrible movie..or saw a gorgeous gal..or probably had a narrow escape from an accident(cuz u were looking @ the gal and dint watch out for that car)…
Don’t wait till you get back to post it thru the web….Tweet it LIVE!

P.S – www.Twitter.com for more details and the programmer is Tommi Laukannen

Adaptation

Adaptation is the most common biological behavior..
Also it is a very funny thing..
It makes ppl adjust to “change” in their normal lives easily..Nevertheless it also makes it harder to adjust to “new” changes in lyf cuz of the previous adjustment..
I’ve seen about 5 places by now as my new home..Everytime when i move to a different place..
It becomes easy to adjust to the new place which also makes it very hard to forget the old one..
There are a couple of things which will be lingering its sweet scent even after u move away from it..And its the course of time for it to eventually get replaced by the fresh fragrance of newer things..
Few of such things are the ones which happen totally unplanned, and unexpected..Enigma is always interesting which definitely makes it worth of remembrance..
Meeting unexpected ppl..a pleasant conversation with a complete stranger..a journey with a fren on a diff side..a hitchhike in a place u do not know..
Is it adaptation which makes us enjoy such things or is it the same adaptation to “new” things which makes it harder to forget the “older” ones..

P.S – Will miss you Mysore ๐Ÿ™

Why are dashing captions so important for a post!!
Maybe is it because that it will catch the reader’s attention or is it because that the matter in the post is so damn boring that u at least want the caption to be interesting..
Most of the ppl who are “forced” to read blogs will opt for the second one im sure..This might probably be one such post..
Philosophy is called boring by a lot of ppl..But they say that its mostly ppl who fail to understand it or ppl who are dumb enough to make their own philosophy..Well to be honest philosophy can be boring when u are at the receiving side of it..However its one thing that is closely linked with psychology..The latter deals with understanding ppl’s minds..Understanding how they react to situations..How they think..But the former…it deals with analyzing and “changing” the way they think..
Thinking is what makes a person take decisions..So it maybe good that if a magic potion was there which was a mixture of philosophy and psychology in the right amounts ppl wouldve taken a decision which can be termed 100% right!! Such a potion would give “Felix Felicis” a run for its money..
So about a ques i was thinkin about recently..
Why is it that sometimes when we are confronted by a situation which we had long ago anticipated, long ago planned for whats called the “perfect” decision,to take it when it
was time,we fail to take that decision wondering if its actually right!!
Cuz after that You’ll be right back where you started..A total 360 degree turn..

P.S – Felix Felicis is a magic potion that gives 100% good luck..(Courtesy: Harry Potter)

Floyd & Vodka

“Five Point Someone”
FPS is the first thing that comes to my mind when i hear Floyd & vodka..FPS should probably be called “The Infamous Guide to Engineering”.. The famous scene..On the terrace of the mech dept wit a glass of vodka in hand and Floyd playing in the background..Thats probably one of the many things which can get u high!!
Being a rock fan 1 major thing which i wonder is..Why is rock music always associated with booze or dope???
Be it hard rock,psychedelic,metal..People always associate it with dope o booze..They say the best way to get high is to smoke up a joint and listen to Nirvana o Hendrix o Floyd..
Honestly when i read about F&V in FPS i too wanted to try it..Go to the terrace..get a glass of vodka with my buddies and put on some floyd music and get high(Well that was the expected result)..
I even heard about dope which could give you hallucinations..Who would want that!!! OK maybe some ppl do but the point is,Is it that gr8 a feeling which one shud experience!!
So i decided to try it..one @ a time..
Started with floyd..When i listened to it for the first time i dint like it..It seemed to be deviated from the usual rock music which i used to listen..very weird..and very lengthy too(8 mins)..Then one day i decided to give it a proper try cuz i knew they were a really famous band..”Another brick in the wall-part II” was the 1st song which i listened to properly..Then i liked it..It had pretty good beats(wel tats wat i thought then..Now…Its one of the best)..Then i moved on to a few more..Thanx to one of my hostel mates i got a list of gr8 songs..And now “Echoes” also seem to be a normal song..(its a 23 min song)..
So thats when i thought that u dont need dope o booze to get high..Just music is enuf to take u on a journey to places which u never knew existed..And floyd definitely made its point..Its got gr8 songs which can get u high once u are absorbed in it..All u needed was a good headphones and no disturbance..U can really get into such high moods that seemed to be impossible to reach..
Getting lost for a few mins can do wonders to ur mood when ur not feeling ur best..
So for the teetotalers out there..,Music is ur drug..U can inject it in any quantities without any side effects..and the best part, its free !!!
I suggest Floyd cuz its my fav when i decide to get lost..

P.S–F & V is a gr8 combo too..

Take Off….Touch Down !!!

What the Hell !!!

This was the first thing that popped into my mind when i got down with my pals infront of Gate 7 ..I hadnt even seen the tickets cuz one of my frenz got it for us..My reaction was like that cuz the show was supposed to have started by 10 AM which it did but we reached there by 10.30..So immediately as we got down from the bus a MIG just whoooshed high above us with its typical whooping sound which seemed as if the pilot cursed us for being there so late..It did boost our spirits nevertheless..(Come on its a MIG for god’s sake)..So the caps, the shades, the umbrellas which were dwelling peacefully in our backpacks were disturbed..We then entered the air force base after a series of checks..We started hurrying towards the front row of seats which were full..By that time 2 more jets were decorating the skies which pretty much seemed like a warm up session for them.. Then we went to the front row and after a lot of searching and asking a couple of the audience who had extra chairs,we finally found one for each one of us..(BTW we were 5 of us)..So its then when we had the first proper look at the jet which was pulling on to the runway like a silent assassin without a sound..The view was magnificent..Military green body..Sexy wings..Double exhaust..Who wouldve thought that even the “metal-birds” were so mind blowing to look at !!!

Then the engine started roaring..Vrroooooooom..
Its such an underrated sound u can come up with to describe the sound of a jet…The “real” sound is not at all reproducible..
The MIG moved to the beginning of the runway..engine powered..Fireaway..and Then that was it!! It started moving and within 6 secs it was right in front of us and we yelled..”Take Off Take Off” and thats it..It had escaped the gravity’s feeble attraction and was right off to the sky..The pilot maneuvered it so elegantly..He took a 45 degree turn to its left and zoomed off high above the clouds..We were lookin at it with bated breath waiting for it to return..7 seconds..Thats all it
took..The jet swooshed above us and the pilot fired the engine with a boost and it was just Woooooooooooow!!! The adrenaline in mybody started pumping up so hard,it made the hairs on my neck stand up!! I started to wonder if i,a commoner was so excited to look at it what would be the pilot’s feeling at that time..But then my wondering was stopped buy the jet which took a U-turn in the sky and came back and then the pilot did it..The move i had read about recently..The Cobra!!
It was simple exhilarating..

Ten mins later the pilot landed smoothly on the runaway as the landing gear just thudded the ground with a lil dust and then a parachute shot out of the jet’s rear to slow it down..It was amazing..So within ten mins of being there we already saw at ake off and a touch down..

The rest of the show went on as magnificent as it could have been and we thought every instant was worth the wait..There was the Jaguar, the Russian Sukhoi, the French Mirage!!And my fav of the day..The F-16 !!! And believe it or not it was loaded with 2 missiles !!!

And the grand finale was by our very own “SuryaKiran”.. 6 of them..They took off simultaneously from the ground, with the tricolors shooting out of their rear..forming the country’s flag which made a mark in the sky which made my heart swell with patriotism..Nothing else couldve been a better end to the show than this one..They also made a “Prevent Aids” symbol on the sky..And even a halo which was of tricolor..The sight was astounding..After 15 minutes of coordination and absolute perfection which made the crowd gasp with wonder they 6 planes went high above together at a perfect 90 degrees and then made a sharp turn downwards and before we realised what was happening, they broke apart and
flew in 6 different directions..and THAT was a perfect end to the “ending”.. We cheered and clapped and shouted our heart out..The show had ended..
So we did a lil bit of shopping there getting posters and toy models of planes..I got a F-16 model for myself..And then we started walking to the exit of the air base..The show was over..and it fulfilled every ounce of expectation..

A perfect end to a brilliant day..It was Valentine’s day and whats better to spend the V-day than watching metal birds!!!

P.S – Event was Aero India 2009..Yelahanka..Feb 14th..And it definitely was one of the best days of my life !!

Dilemma due to a Paradigm Shift

What is a Paradigm shift??

“A Paradigm Shift can be thought of as a change from one way of thinking to another. It’s a revolution, a transformation, a sort of metamorphosis. It just does not happen, but rather it is driven by agents of change.”……………….Anonymous

From a slightly complex point of view:
“Paradigm Shift is a popular, or perhaps, not so popular shift or transformation of the way we Humans perceive events, people, environment, and life altogether. It can be a national or international shift, and could have dramatic effects — whether positive or negative — on the way we live our lives today and in the future.”……………..Anonymous

You must probably be wondering why are the scientific terms involved and what can be the dilemma involved with a paradigm shift..Its simple..Well not exactly simple but pretty much comprehensible..
There was a time when the world believed that the planets and the sun revolved around the earth and that assumption led to the formulation of a number of theories which tried to prove the main assumption right..But then a man with a long beard and a few inches of glass embedded in a metal casing came across and disproved the major assumption…The geocentric system..
(The man was Galileo)..That led to what was probably the biggest paradigm shift in the history of the universe..
But that is something which happens in a millennium or more..

However there are lots of events that occur in our daily lives which we overlook but which are majorly responsible for drastic paradigm shifts..One such event which has kept me wondering and which i came to know about recently was about a gal in a guy’s life..(since both the gal and the guy were pretty good frenz of mine)..

The Story Begins:
There is this guy..And there is this gal..She has been one of the guy’s best frenz for quite sometime now..I dont exactly know how it all started or when it started..All i can recollect is it started and for good..They both know each other pretty well by now..Tats usually what happens when u consider the other person as your best friend..This was one of those common cases as well..But the i-am-wondering-how part of the story was that they never really used to meet up personally quite often or anything..It was the usual casual talks, occasional online chats until one day they exchanged numbers..Then UNlike all the typical guys,AND his usual nature too,he “didnt” text her quite often..It was infrequent, just the usual kinds..info about college..fwds…and stuff..but these two never really had the initial spark that was necessary to induce a mutual liking ..And considering the number of times “they” might probably have gone out together the count might some up to a meagre value of 4 or so..But however things started getting better between them..One other surprising part of the story was that there seemed to be not a single common interest between them..No similar habits..No common goals..Nothing..EXCEPT Similar way of thinking..

Thought is said to be the most powerful weapon of a human being..It can project the impossible as possible and vice versa..

So all they had was a similar way of thinking..for a start..
So time flew by and they eventually became very good frenz..Started exchanging novels, advices, opinions and all the usual mumbo-jumbo stuff that people do these days..
But coming to a add a lil detail about their persona..Both of them were equally stubborn and the especially the guy had loads of attitude but they were still friendly..In fact the gal was very friendly in the class and had loads of frenz..The guy too had his share..
But there was one more common thing which they both used to do amongst themselves..Listen to each other’s point of views..Well its was a different issue that they rarely differed but nevertheless they always used to do it..So due to all this they started getting closer to each other and became best frenz..And their friendship gradually advanced which led to the change in their attitude but for good..They both had an influence on each other..Mainly the guy..He reduced his i-dont-care attitude which was overflowing..So that’s when the typical “sharing stuff” thing came into the picture..Both of them started sharing their daily experiences and personal stuff which led to the betterment of their friendship..Now they have a lot of care and concern for each other..A day is never ended unless they talk or chat with each other..They just knew that its automatic and natural that they just think of each other when there is something to share..

But Life always has its own way of putting you in a situation where though u know what is the right choice you still expect or hope that the wrong choice is the right one..
One such similar thing happened in their lives..A “few scenarios” made them wonder if it was something more than friendship that they have between them..Was it you-know-what?? Was it something else..So then it started..Their way of interpreting things was changed..They started wondering why they were doing the things they used to do..Was it out of sheer care and concern or something else??The gal was the one who brought this thing to their attention..The guy was surprised but he did try convincing her that it was just friendship with a lot of care and concern involved..But somehow his points were not so strong to get the gal convinced this time..Cuz he wasnt too sure himself..Even though he did try,he had a few days of wondering himself..He was not sure..
One of the mundane things in day-to-day life is this..When u start thinking about your best friend in a different way as in that u might be in you-know-what with him/her you’re at the highest level of dilemma in life..Its an extremely weird feeling..Cuz the only person with whom you’ll be thinking to share such a thing is the same person due to whom you are in the situation in the first place..So your way of thinking about that person changes and THAT is exactly when the paradigm shift takes place..
And so it did for them too..
They were stuck in the “mundane” dilemma due to the paradigm shift of their lives..They wondered and wondered and are probably still wondering cuz such a dilemma persists for quite sometime..I hope they must’ve made a choice by now..But if they did..Was it the right one or the wrong one?? If they havent..Will it be the right one or the wrong one??
We will never know cuz choice of a person is just an outcome of his/her perception..
Like, this story was “my” perception of “their” lives..

P.S– If you are wondering about their present lives..both of them are very happy and single and are still best friends…
And i hope i’m not assassinated for writing this one..Lol.. ๐Ÿ™‚
And i sincerely apologize for people who read this thinking it was a sci-fi post..

Falling High

The days of most of the people usually begins with a bright smile on their face(cuz theyd’ve woken up early in the morning) OR a usual swearing word PROBABLY starting with F (cuz theyd’ve overslept)..But still its usually a busy day for most of us..(Weekdays atleast)..I can recall quite a few days beginning with one of the above feelings, but turning out to be a wonderful day OR a depressing one..Being pessimistic is one of the good things of human nature..because when u know ur going to have a bad day and ur pessimistic about it u wont be disappointed if u have one and you’d neither be sad if u dont..Usually its the good days that happen for most of us..So its pretty much the same for me too..Even though i would have got up late as usual wit the swearing word but still i wouldve made it to the office on time, still a lil sleepy but somehow a small chat with a colleague or a FWD mail or an sms from a friend wouldve put a smile to my face already. But one such day after the usual chores i remembered that it was one of my friend’s Bday.Luckily i had kept a “reminder” which made me “remember”.Then i decided to call her to wish her but then i realized that she was @ work and her cell wouldnt pick up the signal………….
Then i realized i was slowly drifting into nostalgia..The wonderful moments of college life kept flashing right in my obscured mind which made my eyes keep staring blankly into the computer screen with a java page opened..
It was right in the beginning of 6th sem when the “proper” Bday party thing started in my group..That was one of the best Bday’s ive ever had..I hadnt expected anything from the group cuz it had been formed quite recently after a cheerful and informative field trip to a power station in Kolar..So as usual i went to the college but ofcourse sporting a huuuge smile on my face(it was my Bday obviously) and i had decided i’d be owing a treat to my buddies..So met everybody got the Bday wishes..So i was all smiles..Then after the class got over we all stayed back to decide where we’ll go for the party and thats when my friend BoB(tats her nickname) came up smiling with the entire group with a gift wrapped..I was surprised…and elated ofcourse..So that was when i got my first “doctor sleeves” T-shirt..Loved it..So it all started from that day..Deciding the previous day as to get some suitable gift to the Bday boy/gal..it was usually an interesting thing other than once or twice when we were all busy and asking each other to go get the gift..But somehow it always ended up with 5 of us from the 12 person group..We used to call ourselves the “Fantastic Five” (dont ask me why)..So its usually one of us who’d come up with the idea of what to get..So we used to take our vehicles most of em ridden by the gals(cuz a few guys dint know how to ride a vehicle..SHOCKINGLY)..So we would go to our usual places which were a few shops we knew..Then we’d buy a gift and get back..But the next day(Bday day) was the best part..Its usually one of the 5 who would start the Bday bumps idea and we would whack the Bday boy(well whacking the Bday gal would be inappropriate) and it’d hav be so much fun..I vividly remember once that we’d actually hit the guy so hard that he was holding his bottom for about half an hour.If it was a Bday gal the definitely somebbody would come up with a bright idea of teasing em so much that would make all our eyes wet with laughter..Then was the lunch part..The discussion itself wouldve lasted for about half an hour as to WHICH RESTAURANT TO GO,and finally it was majority wins..So then we would be off on most of our “gal-driven” vehicles to the restau..We even went on a trip on “govinda’s ” Bday when we had was an awesome time..
But Now all these are just sweet memories..All the Bday parties,Bday bumps,Bday gifts seemed like ages ago when it was not even 6 months since we got busy with our own lives working in different companies…A few of my frenz are yet to join..So life just has its own way of making us move on..Now it was just phone calls on Bdays..The guys now know how to drive thier own vehicles..The gals are busy with thier work too..its just the weekends or holidays we meet up..What used to happen almost daily happens once a month..The days when we had just enough cash to buy a churmuri for all of us is gone..Its replaced with cash enough to buy pizzas for all of us but just that the ALL OF US has become rare to catch up..Long gone are the days when we roamed around to a nearby places with dutching the petrol cost but a sense of genuine happiness flashing across our faces..Now its just our own vehicles filled with a tank of petrol but no place to go..
Well finally i had to pull myself together and i finally had to stop staring at the comp screen..I thought lil drops of dew would’ve decorated my eyes and everybody else’s if they too were thinking the same thing..So i decided to cal her once and try if she was reachable..But the “Spice” service providers werent so keen to connect my cal and i finally had to give up..So i just ended up sending a text message with the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY with a smiley..Smileys are the best way of indicating ironies..So that was a pessimistic-good-start-nostalgic-punctuation-moderate-PERIOD-day…

P.S- I couldnt give her a call for the whole day,so it was just through a sms that i wished her.

The 1st Chapter——Enter:- The Blog

Well the first thing that probably comes to the mind when u see the title is..”Wait a minute..Did i hear this right?”..Well you sure did..I dint mean “Enter:- The BLOB” but i meant “Enter:- The bloG “…
I always used to wonder why people maintain diaries when all it has are just events or things that wouldve occured in thier lives,or opinions which wouldve popped up in thier ever unsure minds which they were never able to voice openly,or feelings which they were never able to express..but nevertheless all of these are consequences of thier own actions or choices which they would never be able to “forget” in the first place..
But later i realised its probably not there to “remember” those things but its just there to “remind” you to think about those “not-forgotten” things..
So i decided to write down a few my own in the blog so that it’d “remind” me to “think” about it sometime when i felt like “being reminded” of the “non-forgotten” things of “my” life…
P.S– For those of you who dont know..BLOB is the fat guy mutant in X-men..So this blog “Definitely” doesnt have to do anything with him…
